Installation: Completed, but no connection

Have you gone through the entire installation and see one of these screens, but there's no connection to Slide?

Turn off your mobile data (3G/4G), or turn on airplane mode

It's important that your phone stays connected to Slide during the installation. Some telephone disconnect, as Slide does not connect to the internet directly. To avoid this, turn off your mobile data, or turn on airplane mode.

Check if the LED-light on the bottom of Slide is pulsating

The LED-light is pulsating

Check if you entered the correct WiFi password

Sometimes, there is a different password for the 5.0GHz network, then for the 2.4GHz network. Slide always uses the 2.4GHz network.

Is Slide still not connecting, or do you get error messages?

Then, give Slide a Factory Reset:

1. Take something small, like a paperclip

2. Slide's reset button is in an opening on the bottom of Slide. Use the paperclip to press and hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds.

When you hear the motor and the LED-light starts pulsating, the reset is complete.

Please note: By giving Slide a Factory Reset, you'll have to configure Slide from the beginning. Start at the step where you enter the 'Device Code'. You'll find this code on the 'Welcome Sheet', or on the top of Slide.

The LED-light is not pulsating

This can have several reasons.

Read the options below before continuing.

1.  Slide has problem with settings on your modem. This is often because of an alternative DNS-server, like a pi-hole

2. Mesh-network or WiFi-booster/extender

3. 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz connections

4. Settings in your modem that block new connections

5.  Incorrect 'Device Code'

1. Alternative DNS-server, like a pi-hole

If you have a modem that uses an alternative DNS-server, such as a pi-hole, Slide won’t be able to receive commands from your modem and you’ll have to change the settings.

In order to check if this is the problem, you can test the following:

Take a second telephone and turn on the personal hotspot of this phone (also called ‘Wifi Access Point’). Use this as the WiFi point when connecting to your home network.
Before trying this, reset Slide (see below for instructions).

If Slide manages to connect through the personal hotspot, it is the modem or the alternative DNS-server that is blocking the connection to Slide.

To solve this, try changing the DNS or resetting your modem. Sometimes setting up a guest network from your modem helps, provided that your modem supports this option.

4. Mesh-network or WiFi-boosters/extenders

Maybe you have several WiFi-points in your house, like a modem, a router or WiFi boosters or extenders.

Give a  unique name to the WiFi point that you want Slide to use. If several WiFi points have the same name, Slide might connect and disconnect between different WiFi points.

Also, check the settings on the WiFi point that you'd like to use. Make sure that it runs on 2.4GHz (see point below).

Before you continue, give Slide a Factory Reset (see below for instructions)

3. 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz

Many WiFi points have the possibility to run on both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz. Slide only works on 2.4GHz, as it has a wider range than 5.0GHz.

2.4GHz has a smaller bandwidth than 5.0GHz, but Slide doesn't need this.

Make sure your WiFi point is using 2.4GHz.

In some cases, there are different WiFi passwords for both. Make sure to use the password for the 2.4GHz connection.

4. Settings in your modem that block new connections

Some modems have settings that block new devices.
Check your settings and if necessary, give Slide permission to connect.

It can also help to reset your modem to factory settings.

5. incorrect 'Device Code'

Without a correct Device Code, Slide cannot connect.  In order to solve this, please give Slide a Factory Reset and go through the installation flow again.
